The faculty is the only one in the Republic of Belarus that trains highly qualified specialists for enterprises in the textile, clothing and footwear industries.

In 2017, the Department of «Labour Protection and Industrial Ecology» and the Department of «Chemistry» were merged into the Department of ‘Ecology and Chemical Technology’ under the leadership of Natalia Yasinskaya.
- Priority directions of the Department:
- Full provision of the educational process with own methodical developments;
- Introduction of new innovative teaching technologies;
- Preparation of electronic versions of lecture notes, multimedia demonstrations for all disciplines of the department;
- Interdepartmental cooperation to increase the efficiency of scientific research with the following special departments: technology of knitwear production, technology and design of leather goods, standardisation.

The Department of Technical Regulation and Commodity Science exists more than 30 years (founded in 1989) as an educational and scientific unit of VSTU for training specialists in the field of standardization, merchandising, conformity assessment, quality management, and metrology.
